We had a wonderful Christmas season at our house!
It started with Buddy, our special elf Santa sent to watch our family and see if we were being naughty or nice. Every night before the girls went to bed they would leave him a little bowl of whatever we had for dinner that night, topped with syrup and crushed up candy canes. When everyone was asleep Buddy would fly to the North Pole to give Santa his report. And when the girls woke up the next morning he was back, but always in a different spot and he would bring back Christmas Cheer! One morning we woke to find our kitchen and living room covered with snowflakes, little nativity sets under the tree, special shirts for the girls to wear to school...he sure did make waking up early something fun!
This year we really wanted to focus on the true meaning of Christmas. I felt that it was important to remember how incredibly blessed we are and the warm feeling we get when doing something nice for someone else. My daughters took that to heart. They put so much thought into finding the perfect gifts. Their excitement and pride could not be contained so we opened family presents a week early! And I was filled with that wonderful warm feeling as I watched my daughters hug one another...tight! When we picked out toys for Secret Santa gifts and there was no grumbling, just real excitement about picking out the perfect toys for other special children. Or when they wrote their letters to Santa and only asked for one gift, so he would have enough for ALL the boys and girls.
Our Family did something special together almost every night of December! It was certainly a Christmas that I will forever remember and treasure because of the love & happiness we shared with our amazing family & friends!
THAT is what it's all about!
