Cupcake Wars

Addy is totally into cooking and baking right now. She has always loved to help me in the kitchen, but lately she is cooking solo!
Our family LOVES to watch Cupcake Wars and Chopped on the Food Network. We record them and have marathons on the weekend!
These shows have inspired my little chef.
Recently Addy and Gracie had their own Cupcake War. They made the cupcakes, homemade frosting and decorations all by themselves
and Lee and I were the lucky judges.

This is what they came up with.
O.K. not really. This is what they came up with.
Their theme was Bugs. They made vanilla cupcakes with creamcheese frosting and decorated them with grass and ladybugs made out of candy hearts and frosting gel. They were so cute, creative and quite yummy!
Here they are putting the finishing touches on their masterpieces. And then...
TIMES UP!!! Cupcake makers walk away from your cupcakes!!
And the cherry on top was that they cleaned the kitchen ALL BY THEMSELVES, even the frosting that somehow got on the walls and ceiling!

Sweetheart's Dance

Isn't she BEAUTIFUL!!!
Kenzie had a great time on her first date!
She went to the MC Sweetheart's Dance with Tyler "Peachy" Keen.
He's a super cute, nice guy!
They had a group of six couples and met at our house for their "Day Date."
They played some pretty hilarious games and then each couple made their own pizza and decorated a cake.
Then our AMAZING stylist Patti made a special trip from Idaho to do Kenzie's hair!
 It was GORGEOUS!
All of the couples met at Mandi's house for dinner (pizza), pictures and then they were off to the dance! Afterward they went back to Mandi's house for cake.
She came home exhausted, excited and couldn't wait to take her shoes off!
She slept in the recliner so her hairstyle would look good for Church the next day. She wore her dress and everyone said she looked like a Beautiful Princess!!!
I think she experienced her own little fairytale that day. :)

Sweet 16

She's 16!!!

And she had "the best birthday ever!!!" I'm sure her new car had nothing
 to do with those sentiments...
She had 18 friends over to hang out and play games. And like all 16-year-olds she had a pinata, when they all went out to the garage to break it we surprised her with a car!!!
She was completely surprised and it was PRICELESS!!
She hadn't completed her Driver's Ed. course at the time of her birthday, so she couldn't drive by herself for a couple of weeks, but every time we went somewhere we took her car.
We had a family party on Sunday and celebrated her real birthday which
was on a Tuesday at Texas Roadhouse.
I wish time would slow down a little bit, it seems to be flying right by me these days, but I'm so thankful for my family. We are incredibly blessed!
